The biggest question about getting an athletic scholarship is, “How?”
You know that you are good enough, you know you want a scholarship, you have been dreaming of playing in college your entire life. Now the question is how do you do it?
You could sit back and wait for college coaches to call you. You could even pay another website and post an online profile. Take it from our combined 30 plus years of insider recruiting experience, those last two ways will assure you sit home in the fall after you graduate. Or you take proven steps to earning a college scholarship that work year after year, in every sport.
In order to play in college and get recruited, you must develop a game plan. We stress over and over again that you must treat recruiting like a business and as the most serious game of your life. How do you prepare for a playoff game? Do you sit around and wait to see what happens? Or do you jump into action, create game plans, study the opponent and prepare well in advance?
- Do a personal assessment.
- Develop a recruiting inventory.
- Put together your personal recruiting packet.
- Put the plan into action.
- Play the game.
- Fight to the end and accept your scholarship.
If you treat recruiting like the “Big Game” and it is, you will develop a game plan and stick to it throughout the process. Just as in a game, you might find yourself behind at times. You must continue to fight throughout the game if you want to win. To win at the recruiting game it takes a lot of hard work, planning and the right coaching.
